365: Teddy Bear Day

September 9 is Teddy Bear Day. Teddy bears are soft, cuddly, and Jude loves them. We did a craft today to celebrate the day.
Jude is having a hard time teething still, so he was very reluctant to participate. We created teddy bear masks for pretend play. I had to do a lot of the painting for him, but he seemed to enjoy choosing the colors and watching me swirl the paint around the bear face. They were easy to make, and I was able to recycle the pizza box from dinner last night. They weren't dry before bedtime. I am looking forward to playing with them tomorrow!

Teddy Bear Masks

  • Cardboard
  • X-Acto knife
  • Paint (we used acrylic)
  • Paintbrushes (we use these)
  • Craft sticks
  • Cut a teddy bear head outline out of the cardboard
  • Using an X-Acto knife cut eye holes out
  • Let child choose paint colors
  • Put a few squeezes of each color
  • Let the child paint
  • Let the mask dry
  • Attach a popsicle stick to the back of it
  • Play!
