365: World Read Aloud Day

Happy February! We are a month in to daily odd holidays, and we hope you're having as much fun as we are!

February 1 is World Read Aloud Day. Last minute, we ended up babysitting my three nephews and one of my nieces, so we all celebrated together! Linc read to Jude. Aunt HahHah read to Athena. Jake read to Mr. Lemur. Jay read to Linc and Athena. Jude looked at the words, listened, and then chewed a book. There was a lot of reading going on!
Early literacy is something that I am a strong advocate for. I believe that you should read to your child and read to them often. We try to read at least a few books to Jude every day, and we have since he was just a couple weeks old. We encourage our nieces and nephews to read. Linc, especially, who just received his "license to read" at his elementary school! We love to read!
To finish, I will share a quote about literacy that I think is lovely.

"People would stand in line for days and pay hundreds of dollars if there were a pill that could do everything for a child that reading aloud does. It expands their interest in books, vocabulary, comprehension, grammar, and attention span. Simply put, it's a free oral vaccine for literacy. - Jim Trelease.
