365: Spaghetti Day and Whipped Cream Day

January 5 is a day dedicated to odd food holidays. It's not only Spaghetti Day, but it is also Whipped Cream Day. We decided to have spaghetti for dinner to celebrate. We follow baby led weaning, so we cut the food into manageable pieces and let Jude enjoy it!

After dinner, I wanted to do a sensory activity. We have in the past done a spaghetti sensory activity, so I upped the ante and made a spaghetti/whipped cream sensory bin.

For every bit it was messy, it was twice as fun for Jude. This activity brought me out of my comfort zone because it was a little messier and way stickier than I would like, but I am glad we did it. I used sugar free whipped cream because all things eventually make it into Jude's mouth. He smashed it. He bounced his toys around in it. He chewed it. He explored the textures, tastes, sounds, and smells of the whipped cream spaghetti. It was a sensory activity in the purest sense. We will definitely be making more edible sensory bins in the future!
