365: World Kindness Day

November 13 is World Kindness Day. The day is dedicated to the simple, but sometimes looked over, act of just being kind. We try to make kindness a norm in our family, especially in the little ways. We always hold doors (Jude loves to help do that!). We wave hello to people. We say please and thank you. We try to interject random acts of kindness like buying a coffee for the person behind us. Kindness binds us as humans.
Today, we celebrated with a special treat and a surprise. After Tinkergarten today, we secretly made the trek to the Eastside to visit Katie and Q. We haven't seen them in a week, which is a pretty long time for us because they were on vacation. Katie was suck without a car today, and we thought she could use a pick me up. We stopped at McDonalds on our way and got Q a Happy Meal and Katie a Diet Coke (her favorite!), and we headed over.
Katie had no idea that we were coming and the smile on her face when we got there was worth the drive. Q was napping, but as soon as she woke up and saw Jude, she kept saying Juuude Juuuude in the sweetest little voice. Q and Jude must have known it was Kindness Day because they played well together and gave each other a lot of hugs!
Whether it be someone you know and love or a stranger, show kindness always. The world will be a better place if we do!
