September 1 is the first day of Friendship Month! Friends are part of the pillars that hold Jude and I up, and today we celebrated with a special set of friends to kick off the holiday.
In the most millennial way possible, a whole giant part of my village is a community of moms I met online. In one particular group, we have hundreds of moms, moms to be, and waiting to be moms. We share our trials, successes, and fears. It is my safe place. I was lucky enough to meet some of the women from the group yesterday, and a lovely mama and her 20 month old stayed with Jay, Jude, and me this weekend.
Jude and X played this morning like they were old friends. They shared. They actively defied their mamas. They ate food. It was a fun way for them to bond.
We went out to the Decatur Book Festival today in the afternoon. The boys looked at books and people, and they enjoyed some festival food.
It was so special to watch two little boys from two different parts of the country bond and form a friendship because of an online community. Friends are magical no matter the distance!
