365: Coloring Book Day

August 2 is Coloring Book Day. I have fond memories of using coloring books as a kid (and as an adult), so I have been excited to share in this joy with Jude. He's a wild colorer. Any and all activities that are art related that we end up all over his clothes and body. Instead of that happening, we got some Color Wonder markers!
If you are unfamiliar with Color Wonder, they are markers made by Crayola that only mark on special paper. This makes the activity a little more expensive than just plain old markers and paper, but it is a heck of a lot cleaner!
I put Jude inside of our newest playroom addition: a giant Amazon box. This was to protect the markers from dust and dog fur, not to protect the playroom from the markers. Jude was pretty engaged for a few minutes with marking and watching the color appear (it takes a second for it to show up on the paper). After he got bored, he carried around the markers like his most prized possession. Win-win. It was great not to have to worry about a mess when he was carrying them around. I am looking forward to watching him grow into these markers!
